Homework
At Southern Grove Primary School, we value the role of home learning in supporting student development and reinforcing classroom learning.
Students are expected to complete up to 20 minutes of home reading each day. This may include school home reading books, Storybox, or shared reading with a parent or carer. Regular reading at home is essential, as it supports the development of vocabulary and fluency - both of which are critical for building strong comprehension skills.
In addition, students are encouraged to practise their basic number facts regularly. Developing confidence and accuracy with number facts is an important foundation for success in mathematics.
We also recognise the importance of a balanced lifestyle. Activities such as participating in sport, playing board games, shopping, and helping at home are valuable in supporting children’s social, physical and practical development.
At times, teachers may provide additional tasks or activities to be completed at home. These will be purposeful and designed to support your child’s learning, and teachers will communicate expectations clearly with both students and families.
